The Blonde Mom’s Walk-In Closet Makeover

We are so excited to reveal our collaboration with The Blonde Mom! Kendra is a local Personal Stylist servicing the Grosse Pointes and other Metro Detroit communities. She has built a reputation and following (both in the community and on social media) for her famous closet audits and affordable personal styling services. We jumped at the idea of a collaboration to design Kendra’s dream closet and had a blast along the way!

Our project began last spring, when we set up an in-home consultation. Our designers took measurements of the space and talked with Kendra more about her wants and needs in order to maximize every inch of her 100-year-old walk-in closet, and transform it into a functional yet beautiful space.

Some of Kendra’s must-haves included:

  • Needs tons of storage for her SHOES!...she has over 70 pairs!

  • Needs drawers to replace the plastic Rubbermaid totes currently storing undergarments.

  • Want more accessible yet protected jewelry storage.

  • Wants to maximize hanging space.

Our team of designers got to work on putting together Kendra’s design. A second consultation scheduled at our storefront took place two weeks later. Kendra was able to review her designs through 3D renderings and selected her cabinetry color and hardware. We were able to work around the attic access point, and included floor to ceiling shelving for her shoes. Before, she was only able to store 45 pairs of shoes -- now, she is storing 75! Lack of hanging space was also an issue. Originally, she had under 60 inches of hanging space available. By utilizing the back wall, we were able to give her 96 inches of hanging space! We also added 6 drawers with open shelving above (bye bye, plastic Rubbermaid totes!). The top drawer includes a custom velvet lined jewelry tray -- now all of her jewelry is organized, protected and easy to view for accessory styling. We also added in a pull-out belt rack and wardrobe valet. Her new closet turned out beautifully (she even matched the hangers to the hardware!), and we all had SO much fun making her closet dreams come true!
